Dear Highline Ward Family,

As many of you know I work in the sales business and we use the phrase "new year, new start." This comes in handy when you have a bad sales year, or mistakes were made. When the clock strikes 12:01am on the New Year, it doesn't matter what your sales were last year anymore.

The Savior Jesus Christ offers each one of us a way to repent of our shortcomings, mistakes, and decisions that we simply wish we hadn't made. And we don’t need to wait for a "New Year" to make changes or forget about the past. Repentance is an act of faith in Jesus Christ--and an acknowledgement of the power of His Atonement. We can be forgiven only on His terms. As we gratefully recognize His Atonement and His power to cleanse us from sin, we can "exercise our faith unto repentance."

Those blessings of repentance can be ours each time, and the opportunity to repent is one of the greatest blessings Heavenly Father has given us through the Gift of his Son.

Brothers and Sisters, it is my prayer this year that each one of us will take advantage of the gifts of repentance. The Lord promised that each person who repents and strives to follow His commandments shall be forgiven.
